Once you pick your color scheme it is time to grab your squad and shop for dresses. This should be done at least 6 months in advance. I would highly recommend researching the style of dresses you would prefer your bridesmaids to wear ahead of time. This will narrow down the decision making quite a bit and make your shopping experience better for everyone. It is customary to have your attendants wear a similar neckline or same shape of dress as the bride, but in the color you choose, if you want to go traditional. But honestly, anything goes these days and many brides opt for the bridesmaid's dresses to each suit the attendants body style instead. There are several companies that make the same dress with different styled straps or top, but in the same color. This was the case with my daughter. Each girl chose the dress top they felt most comfortable in.
Shopping Tip: Do you do a big group or a small one?
If you love a group experience, bringing all your bridesmaids can be fun, but sometimes it is easiest to just bring 1 or 2 people to shop for dresses instead. Price Point Tip: If you don't want your ladies to break the bank, there are tons of options that can be purchased used. My daughter chose this option, and the dresses were the style she liked, but much cheaper for her friends to purchase. Poshmark is a wonderful option for used dresses. There are also many other on - line dress shops that are reasonably priced.
The main thing to remember is to have fun with your friends, be flexible and honestly, if everyone is comfortable in their choice of dress, the happier they will be and the happier you will be on your big day.
