Blog Post #12 Choosing the Groom and Groomsmen's attire

Updated: Mar 27, 2022

You will soon realize that the person who cares the most, what the groom and groomsmen will wear, will be the Bride. Ladies, I do recommend that you encourage your groom to give feedback on this, and together you can choose something that you will both love and that will fit your style and personalities. There are so many options out there that I would encourage you to research the styles and colors of suits and/or dress clothes you would like and narrow down the choices. And have fun! A very popular suit color this season is Navy blue, as it compliments so many other colors and is a nice neutral. You will need to decide how formal you would like your guy's attire to be. Most of the time the groom has a full suit and the groomsmen have less formal attire. A new trend is for the groomsmen to wear a dress shirt in white or cream and dress pants in navy or whatever color you want the men to wear, and suspenders and ties that match the bridesmaids dresses. My daughter and son in law decided on navy blue suits for everyone with white shirts. All the guys had the same color tie, but the Groom's tie had a paisley print to it that was different than the Groomsmen.

Price Point Tip: If you really want everyone to have the exact same color and style of suit, then renting will be your best bet. But be warned, the cost is actually more than if you had each groomsmen buy a suit and you do not get to keep them. My daughter and son in law opted for everyone to buy their own suit so the guys would get to keep them. I would advise being pretty specific about the style of suit and color, as we had one person who's suit ended up having a different lapel than everyone else's. You can have each person order their suit from the same place, which will alleviate that problem. Honestly, if you have a good photographer, they can usually photo shop the different part of the suit to match the others pretty easily.

Accessory Tip: Make sure all the guys have the same shoe color and style of shoe as the photos will look much better if they do. And make sure they all have the same tie. We ordered them for the guys off of amazon and gave them out the day of the wedding.

Remember: The clothing is a small part of making a day full of memories. Choose something the guys will be comfortable in and they will be extremely happy and so will the bride and groom.
